Olympic Party Decorations

Olympic flag decorations The Olympics are almost here, so why not kick of this big event with an Olympic kick off party. The Summer Games officially kick off on August 8th and run until August 24th 2008.

Invite your friends over for the opening ceremony, or invite them over to view your favorite sport. Make a day of it and have your own backyard Olympic events.

Here are a couple easy decorating ideas for your Olympic celebration:

  • Give the party a sports theme, and decorate with balls, jerseys, or photos of your favorite Olympians past and present.
  • Make flags of some of the countries involved and hang them around the room.
  • If it’s an outdoor party use torches to light the way, or make cardboard torches to hang on the walls indoors.
  • Paint a large mural with the Olympic rings, some medals, people participating in some of the events, or some world flags. You can use a large roll of paper and attach the mural to the wall when it’s complete.
  • Use patriotic decorations, if you’re in the US the 4th of July decorations you just put away will work great.
  • Since the Summer Olympics are held in China this year give your decorations an Asian feel, make a Chinese dragon, or houses on a mural.
  • The Olympics originated in ancient Greece, so give your party a Grecian feel. Make cardboard pillars, and statues, and wear your toga.

There are tons of ideas out there for Olympic party decorations. Just pick your favorite, or mix and match for a great party.
