Party Planning: Go Eclectic

eclectic dinner party

When party planning you’re only limited by your imagination.

Today we’re having a birthday party for my mom. It’s not going to be a big party, most of my family lives a few hours away and can’t make it. Besides my husband, son and I, my mom is coming with her best friend and my nephew will be attending as well.

Yesterday I was looking at my mismatched dishes, wishing I had something more festive. You see, we’re in the process of a (very slow) home makeover and I don’t want to buy anything until the remodel is complete. While looking through boxes of glassware and wedding gifts, I came across a beautiful set of wine glasses, each one a different color.  These are perfect. Since the set has different colored glasses, I can have a colorful table to match. It doesn’t matter if all my plates bowls match!

I’m also having fun going through the boxes in my basement. I have lots of beautiful glasses and bowls that were given as wedding or other gifts. I like to make different occasions more “special” by bringing up the good stuff like the cobalt blue water glasses or the silver serving trays.

I love having people over, don’t you?
